This is my still in use Compaq Armada 1592DT, I just fixed it! It's still alive, I cannot believe it. Released in 1995 - it was the top of the range in the Armada series. It has a 10 minute battery, 92mb of ram, a 233mhz pentium, 4gb of disk space and one USB port. Here it is running a full linux operating system with a stripped down xserver. It has a maximum video output of 1280x1024 from its VGA port (!!) and a 14.1" screen that does 800x600.

I know the full history of this laptop, it was originally purchased new by DOC (department of conservation) and was with given to my friends dad (a DOC employee) as a work horse. Stationed on the chatham islands, it lived there for the large part of it's initial life, occasionally travelling to the mainland for work on the move. Once he got an upgrade, he gave it to his son, who brought it to school... He mainly used it to play Warcraft 1 (orcs and humans) on its Windows 95 operating system (yes we were all jealous!). Once it was a good ten years old, so 2005, it was just sitting in his closet only used for the odd retro gaming session and he sold it. To another of our friends ($60 was the fare I believe) who promptly broke it and was about to throw it out, before I asked him for it. I replaced the BIOS battery and memory with an old stick I found and it booted again, yay! I bought a USB-to-ethernet adaptor (which took up its one USB port) and I used it with 95 for a while untill I got pissed off with little USB support so started to experiment with linux...

Which is where it is at today!

So I was just minding my own business, sailing my gf’s boat in a race around the globe to win her love (bitchez be crazy), when some storm comes along and pushes me overboard. Next thing I know I’m being dragged through the jungle by some dude in a yellow suit.
Anyway we get back to his pad (it’s like his Mums basement only worse) and he runs over to his computer, I figured he was just in a rush to harvest his crops on Facebook or something.
But all he does is input these 6 numbers, so I’m thinking ‘what’s all that about then?’
‘Just saving the world’ he tells me.
And while saving the world’s fun and all. I haven’t been able to check on my FarmVille crops in 3 years!
Please CL, I need an upgrade.

System specs:
Microprocessor: 6502 running at 1.023MHz!
Memory: 64 KB RAM!
Video: 80 columns of text, with 24 lines!

.... Its a lost reference btw.
